Born in Bulawayo in Zimbabwe, Fiona Paterson is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice revolves around environmental issues, social change and the human relationship with nature. She works instinctively within a number of techniques drawing frequently on the influences from her Zimbabwean childhood and European roots. 
She has a wide-ranging and experimental practice that integrates art, science and connections to the community.

Her figurative work is inspired and influenced by artists such as Cristina Córdova, Anthony Gormly, Ousmane Sow and Sharon Griffin, clay is just one of the materials that she uses to expore these themes.

Fiona's previous works consist of collaborations with other visual artists, scientists and community members producing sculptures, drawings, prints and environmental events using site specific materials, metal, wood, clay and fiber. While materially diverse, these underlying themes are consistently explored in her work.
